My Watershed Hydrology Lab is a research group in the Department of Geography, at Nipissing University. We investigate how water moves through our watersheds. We ask questions like: How does water move into streams, rivers and lakes? Where is water stored and for how long? What are the flowpaths water takes to exit a watershed? Can we predict and model the movement of water? What is the quality of the water in a watershed and how is this affected by natural processes and human activities? Currently, our focus is to develop applications of stable isotopes of water to improve our understanding of water movement, a critical goal for the long-term protection of the health and sustainability of our water resources and aquatic environments.
